Early Spinach is a mid-early hybrid variety which is very productive, whether cultivated in greenhouses or open fields and responds well to repeated harvesting. 

It produces large, blistered dark green leaves. It can be grown indoors, in small containers as well.

Early Spinach can be perfectly sown in summer and autumn. From February -April and August – October

Spinach is an annual plant of the Amaranthaceae flowering plant family which is popularly cultivated as a leaf vegetable. Plants of this family have simple dark green leaves that are somewhat triangular or ovate and may be flat or curled.

The recent development of spinach coupled with an upswing of nutrition concerns make it one of the most nutritious vegetables that is consumed worldwide. However, for many people those dark green leafy vegetables are a lacking component of their healthy diet.

General Info

  • They are very undemanding plants but make sure to water well in dry weather.

  • It is very versatile since it is commonly used as a salad, a cooked vegetable or as a component of many other cooked meat and vegetable dishes. 

  • Spinach is one of the most desirable dark green leafy vegetables because it is high in beta carotene (pro vitamin A) and folate, and is also a good source of vitamin C, calcium, iron phosphorus, sodium and potassium (Ryder, 1979; Nonnicke, 1989; Dicoteau, 2000). 

  • It is high in the carotenoid lutein which has been shown to prevent age related macular degeneration. 

  • Spinach is a good source of antioxidants and has one of the highest ORAC (oxygen radical absorbance capacity) values of any vegetable (Prior, 2003). 

Growing Guidelines

– Days to Maturity: 35 – 40 Days

– Planting Depth: 1 cm

– Plant Spacing: 10 cm:  35 cm

– Soil Preference: 70% Cocopeat 10% Vermiculite 5% Perlite 15% Plant Compost

– Temp Preference: Cool (15°C to 25°C)

– Light Preference: Full Sun – Partial Shade

– pH Range: 6.0 – 7.0

– EC: 1.8 – 2.2

– TDS: 1152 – 1408 PPM

– Color: Dark Green

1- Prepare your soil mix and put your seeds at a 1 cm depth.

2- Spray the seeds and cover them with a plastic case to accelerate the germination process, don’t forget to make holes in the plastic case for the seeds to breathe.



  1. If you want to harvest this herb for its greens, you can use scissors throughout its growth to cut fresh leaves as needed. 

  2. You can harvest the leaves by cutting off the leaves while keeping the plant’s base, leaving it to continue growing.
